my mav

i have 1974 maverick with a 250 inline 6 and a c4 trany now i know that the 302 will bolt right up but how much gain would i get if i put a stroke kit in i hear it will turn it into a 347 or somewere around there but how much more power would i ghet and would it be worth it for the cost

paulsonjosh there is a couple of popular stroker kits for the 302 being the 331 or the 347. Now you have to remember that by just stroking a 302 by itself is not going to give you huge gains. You will also have to get new heads, cam, intake, carb, etc. The reason why I am saying this is because the right combination of these things will give you more hp than another, and also different combos will cost more than another combo. So there is no way to determine how much power is to be gained by just a stroker kit. Another thing to consider is block. Naturally a A4 block or a R-302 would be ideal but a stock 302 block is good for approx 500hp. Hope this helps you out a little.
