351 cleveland

I just got a call from a friend who says there is a decent 351 cleveland for sale in the area so Saturday we are gonna check it out. He believes it is a 71 but could not say for sure. I don't know alot about the clevelands but I figure it won't hurt to look. Anybody here have much experience with these, and if so what are some of your opinions on this motor? I keep thinkin, could you imagine if it is a Boss 351.....LOL

If ya gonna dream-go big. Boss 351 with very low miles. And when you crank it over it fires on all 8 like a champ..

I couldn't tell ya all the good technical things about it but, i had a '69 Fairlane that i replaced a 302 with the Cleveland.....big difference in power!!! The 351C was built for only three years so
i image it is probably getting scarce. If you can swing it, i'd get it.

Well today was pretty amazing to say the least. The guy who has it now said it was his fathers. His father was big into stock car racing in the 70s and early 80s. He brought me into a small room in his basement and I was totally blown away. There sat a complete Boss 351. Now I know I don't know alot about these motors but I will describe some of the parts that filled this room. There was 3 more blocks all 4 bolt mains with all the parts for each motor. The pistons are forged pop ups [all of them] There was 6 heads in which he said were all original. One set though came from Holman and Moody, they are ported and polished and have huge runners and valves. Then the intake was really different. It is alunimum single plane but the top of the intake can be taken off and swapped with another plate which will alow it to accept dual quads! There was lots of other stuff in there for FE motors as well, Like a complete tri power set up. I wish I was more prepared, I would of brought a camera. Anyways did I buy it, not yet. I have to wait till he talks to his brother to find out a price. He tells me he will let the stuff go at a reasonable price though. Soon as I find out more I will let you know.

A 351 with tri power,or dual 4's. Ported /polished heads. Steel crank. All balanced and blue printed. Backed by a built C-6. Droped in a 40's or 50's Ford. What can I say. All dodges and bowties in my rearview . And I'm playing "Another 1 Bites The Dust " on my stereo!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I would say. You just don't see this stuff around here. I still can't believe it. I am still waiting to hear a price. Crossing my fingers that it is within my budget.

Hate to correct you, but FE engines were 352 360 390 427 428

I use to run Cleveland Great engine not too much bottom end power (stock) but top end is great.
I now run a 351w bored and stroked to 396" I am now in the process of building a 427 out of a 351w SVO block.
