Ford awaiting engine decision

Just read where Ford racing officals hope to learn soon whether NASCAR will approve the new cylinder heads they've submitted and hope to begin using in 2004. The heads have raised intake and exhaust ports and would, in theory, make Ford camp-which will also have a revamped Taurus-more competitive.
Just by watching the Dodge's (R.Newman) and chevys ( DEI & RCR) whoup up on fords in the corners going into the straights the last few races-ya Ford needs help.
Dan Davis, head of Ford's racing operations, said it's hard to charactize the size of the disadvantage, which centers on the torque the current engines deliver coming off the turn's.
" I thank our guy's have a hard time keeping up with the competition off the corner"
Chevrolet has made several change's. And Dodge introduced a new engine in 2001. Ford officials aren't sure if they last began using a new cylinder head in either 1991 or '92.
Also Blaney's Jasper Motorsports team more than likely will be in a Dodge next year. They did run a Dodge at 'Daga. They build the engine's that Pensky runs in there Dodge's.
Hopefully we the street people will know by mid Jan.
