| '92 4.0 OHV timing claims to be off by 180* Anyone here familiar enough with Ford's 4.0 OHV to tell me why my '92 Explorer claims that the timing is off by about 180*? The engine runs great, but the timing light flashes when the marks on the crankshaft pulley are on the opposite side of the engine from the pointer on the crankshaft position sensor. For information's sake, I'm reasonably certain that I'm checking the timing correctly (timing light on cylinder one, SPOUT disconnected). I can check the timing on my BII without any problems. Recently had a rebuilt engine installed, and I'm wondering in particular if it's possible that they put an incorrect crankshaft pulley on there. |
