fan clutch

any of you ever have the clutch on your fan go out?

man, what an awfull sound. it happened to me tonight about a mile from home.

ill be heading to the salvage yard tomorrow. for now i just drilled a hole in the cltch and put a bolt in it.(temporarily)

does anyone here know of a solid type fan.....one with no clutch, that will fit my truck? im pretty sure theres nothing like this that came on a ranger but i figure if i can find one that is the same diameter and depth ill put that on. i just need something with the same bolt pattern...

i also dont want to use a flex fan....i have heard that they dont cool well.

any info is greatly appreciated

ive put solid fans from 302s on 2.3 and 2.9s ....my 2.8 had a non-clutch fan so i dont know if that is regular...if it is then use one from a 2.8 the 302 fans are a bit bigger but didnt touch anything.....on a 4wd though i would be watching the fan shroud when wheelin an flexn

go electric, cools better and you gain a little in power from less strain being taken up with the belt pulling the fan.
