any power gain?

I have a 99 ranger 4.0 with k&n air intake. For exhaust I have a cherry bomb muffler. I was thinking of getting a flowmaster 40 series muffler. My question is will there be a noticeable difference in sound? and will it help at all with the hp? Thanks for the info

I would say the sound will be much better and a small gain in hp.

i put a flowmaster 40 SI/DO with 2.5 inch (i believe) pipes with dual 3.25 (i think)by 24 inch tips on my old 97 with the 4.2 and it sounded SWEET! :hitit: so with the 4.0 yours should sound almost as good. which is pretty damn good. i about wore out the hood release because everywhere I went I had to pop it open to prove that it was really a V-6

oh BTW. make the size of your tips proportionate with the size of your truck. i hate seein big huge trucks with baby tips and little trucks with monster tips. just my opinion.

if you want power gains get some headers. it will make it sound even sweeter with the flowmasters.

yeah I definitly want some headers sometime. JBA headers says they are gonna make headers for 98-99 rangers with the 4.0 but I haven't seen anything yet. Is there anywhere else that makes headers for the 99 ranger 4.0? I've looked but haven't found any.
