how much horsepower will I get?

I have a 99 ford ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 engine. Right now my only performance mod is a FIPK K&N air intake kit. I am planning on getting headers true dual flowmaster exhaust a bigger throttle body and maybe some underdrive pullies and was just curious how much horsepower I will get from all that. Thanks for any info

yeah my friend has a GMC Jimmy with the 4.3 vortec engine and I am so wanting to beat him in a race. Any Mods I can get will be cool so once again I can have the faster truck.

that shouldnt take much. having owned that engine myself I can tell you that for a Jimmy, its a big engine. but compared to my 4.2 V6 I got in my truck, the 4.3 is an underpowered unreliable, peice of crap. ill look around on the net and see what i can come up with, but is his a 4x4? is it 4 door or 2? and what mods does he have?

how bad does he beat you now?

ok a superchip will give you......

16HP and 25 tourque for $230
thats what they claim but it sounds decent

then get a new Airflow Sensor from Summit Part number # GRN-70004019-05 which is said to give 10-15 more HP

then the exhaust of your choice, you already got intake right?

do you have a stick or a auto?

what rear end do you have?

it shoudnt take much

ok I got an air intake my ranger and his jimmy are 4x4. his is the two door style. I think I have 3.73 gears in the back whatever comes on a 99 stock. He has no mods right now. He beat me by a cars length I was right by his bumper.

a chip, an intake, an MAF, and exhaust will do it.

you also gotta make sure you go almost all the way through your RPM curve.

Here is an example. I got a 99 F-150 extended cab 4.2 auto. It is VERY heavy. Stock, I can beat a Jimmy/Blazer and they are lighter weight and they have a bigger engine.

my brothers truck is an F150 4.2 with 32 inch tires. He can beat a Jimmy no sweat and all he has is flows.

The point is, the jimmy has 2 problems,

1. Its a Chevy

2. Its got a big engine that is very underpowered and very unreliable.

Shoot, I am suprised you didnt run side by side, maybe he was just havin a good day.

ohhh yea, put your tailgate down. it helps.
