Anybody good with car stereos. I just bought a 12" mtx 6000a sub, a 400watt profile amp, and a box but i need to install it. I really don't feel like paying circuit city $60+ to do it. I just need help with the line out converter, am i supposed to solder that on. I plan on running it from my stock cd player. 1998 ranger xlt.

man u don't have to soder it on if u don't want to... all you have to do is splice into the rear speaker wires and black tape those wires to your line out wires... any other questions just ask..

that's going to sound really good.... i dont know too much about speakers, my friend installs everything like that for me (i do his oil and other small stuff in exchange)

where are you putting it? do you have an x-cab?

i was going to run a RF X-punch (410W) with a 410 w JL amp... the only place for it to go was behind my seats, inverted inbetween the two.

what do you think your friend would charge to do mine, if i supplied all the parts, like wiring and stuff.

Basically you need to run a hot wire from you battery to your amp, a ground frmo the amp to the frame (or something like the seat bolts), and a wire from your fuse box to the amp's remote turn on wire. Choose a fuse that has power when the key is on, and turns off when you remove the key.

As far as the inline converters go - my guess is you have one that is only for two speaker wires and not four. Remove one of your rear speakers, and connect a set of speaker wires to the connectors on the speaker (or splice into them somewhere along the way). Connect your converter to those, and plug your RCA cables to it, then the amp.

Make sure the amp's gains are turned down before you turn it on, that way you can adjust the output up and not worry about pops or clipping.

I have a 450 kenwood amp and two 12inch JL subs I'm putting in my truck but I wanna get a head unit before it goes in.

hey Kev, you would be capable of 720+ watts, but I think that you are only using 200 right? since you are hooked thru the head? 50x4 channels?

yep you are right!!!! he is only useing 200
