| alright, help with the system... ok i have a standard cab, 1992 ranger, and im looking to get a decent system in the truck without losing leg room, because im a fairly tall person. I asked this a while back on another board and they suggest mxaudio.com, because they design custom boxes to fit into trucks and cars like mine, but DAMN... i dont wanna pay $300 for a box alone! Anyone else have any suggestions? Has anyone designed or made there own box, can you tell me how and what i will need? |

| system cdghi have a 97 ranger, and i wanted to do a custom box and system (way to expensive) so i got a 10" bass tube (which already has an amp inside it to push it) and removed my arm rest and wired it underneath my carpet around the back and up now it sits where my arm rest is, then i made a custom fit cover for it out of an old seat cover, and i love it it sounds good and looks good, but thats just my opinion:fordsrule: |

| hummmm.. not sure then.. cuase mxaudio.com isnt a real site... Sorry if this is what you wanted to stay away from. im hoping to get a MTX 8000 soon.. and i have to get a custom box built.

| check this out depending on how much money you want to spend, and all that stuff, you will be able to fit 2-8 inch subs in a truck box behind the seats.

| not really Actually, if you dont want to spend all that money, heres what you do: go to home depot, or whatever your neares home repair store is, buy 2 sheets of plywood(in case you mess up)- its like $4.00 a sheet. go and buy some wood putty, and some screws(size depends on the thickness of the wood). take the measurements of behind your seats in the comfortable seating position. After you know how much room you have, then figure what size speakers you can fit behind there. then you go from there. It doesn't take a home-ec. genius to do it. Oh yeay... Carpet- Pepboys- $19.99 for like 20 feet- any color. and you need glue.

| actually if you make your own box... you want to get MDF.. thats a grade of plywood and it runs a little more than 4 bucks a sheet.. this is the carpenter in me talking.. thats what everyone uses to make boxes.. you also have to get the proper airspace.

| Yeah, definitely buy MDF board. At Lowe's it runs about 17 bucks a sheet, which is enough to build 2 regular boxes that could hold 2 10" subs in each. Take some measurements with the seat in the position that you can be comfortable in and just draw up some quick figures. You can get the wood cut at Lowe's for like 10 bucks for all the cuts you need. All you need after that is some wood glue, some caulking to seal the box, and some screws. Carpet isn't necessary but it does make it look nice. |

| building the box is easy. building the box with the right airspace is the hard part. i built my box for my truck because i didn't want to loose leg room. i also built a box for my dads explorer. that is the way to go. it saves you money and it gives you some pride.:chevysucks:

| the airspace is the easiest, multiply interior hieght and width cubed, but making sure its air tight has always been a pain in the butt. nothing worse than loose bass.

| i have 2 10's in my 94 ranger and i got 2 slim fit split boxes, some company also sell boxes mad to fit behind the seats in a ranger. All i need to now is how to hook 'em up!!!! i think my amp is screwed.
