Extended cab?? I know JL Audio used to make a Stealth box for both the ext. cab and reg. Rangers. They might still make it. The ext. cab one replaces one of the seats in the back. These boxes are pricey though. Prob. could make one customn if you tried. I was going to once but never got the motivation.

Im sure he has a regular can and in this case it is still possible. The first option is to purchase a box...

Thunderform, by MTXAUDIO makes a good one for the regular cab ranger.

http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/pro...res/RMP101.cfm

OR you can customize your box and make it to size that will not require you to remove them. Take a look and let me know if you need any more help.

feel like an ass. the reason is that I neglected to mention that it's a 2002 regular cab ranger edge(3L 5-speed). there's no tellin what I drive without lookin at my profile. for all somepeople knew I might have been drivin a pinto or something. But it's a ranger

Well in that case you can still take a look at the mtx site, cause i believe the regular cabs from 1998-2001 are exactly the same size so you should be fine using the mtx boxes or by custom making them.

thans to all that replied. I think that I might just go see someone about building a custom box for 2 10s. I think that there might be just enough space(30 inches)between the fartory speaker locations, and since I am not a tall guy, I could live with an inch or two less leg room. Anyone know where I could get this done (Dallas area) for a sum that wouldn't make me feel like a prison bithc

Let me know what you find out. I have two MTX 8's but the boxes they are in kill my legroom.

well, I do have some measurements that might work, and it leaves just enough space as not to move the seats, but the problem now is that lil space that the sub sits out and sub travel.
Oh that and I think that I would have to mount the amps under the seats or in them. This would fit between the stock speaker locations.

yeah they might, but I don't have the money for it right now, so I am goint to see if I can find an amp with a built in cooling fan. A guy at my college was talkin bout them in the hall. I think that it was lightning audio.

I just got done doing some measuring, 98 shortcab. With the seats (60/40) all the way back and at a comfortable angle I was able to measure out a box with an inside area of 1.06 cubic feet. I also measured it with the seat one click forward and came up with 1.36 cubic feet. I did measure it to fit between the factory speakers, 30.5 inches was the width I got. I figured out the cubic area based on a box with half inch walls. I'd like to get two tens in there but need to figure out where to put an amplifier??? I might also take out the original speaker locations, Built the sub box about 7 inches shy of each side of the cab, and vertiaclly mount some 6x9 speakers on each side of the box.
Just what I've been thinking lately.

That's about what I got for the width, but I thought that I would leave it to 30 inch to make a lil room for carpeting. I also put a step in there to accomidate there lirrle indention below the window. I did me estemates for 3/4 inch wood, and I figured about 1.33 cubic feet. This is with no loss but with no sub, so count on abotu one click loss.

but I would still need a place to mount my amp(s) I saw somewhere that a guy took out the passenger side airbag, and put his amp in there, but had to put in a massive computer fan to keep it cool. But from time to time I have passengers and I would rather save their life than have killer tunes. I would also like to put a sub volume control either in the center console or the lil tray thingie under the A/C controls

How high up the back cab wall are you planning to make your box? I measured up to the indent, about 8 inches from the bottom of the window, which makes my box measure 11 inches tall. Did you measure alll the way up to the window?

it's abotu 3 1/2 inches
not too tall.

11 up then 1 inch to the front, then like 3.5-4 up again.

I think that this would require a one click loss to make up for the sub
