This may not be the case most of the time but some people only have money for one car/truck. And when it comes down to it if you have to haul shit everyonce in a while you will have to have something bigger thus you buy a pick up truck or suv whatever, it may be used to haul just you most of the time but, when those hauling situations come up your not completely fucked. Also some people (me) are given a hand me down truck for free. Even though I dont need a truck at all I still drive it because it was free and thats all I can afford right now. I wont argue with you that most people have trucks because they think big trucks are safer.
